School Visits, Office & Telehealth
Therapy sessions are arranged after an initial evaluation and take place at your child's school, at our Green Hills office, or online through our secure patient portal. We do not make home visits. Berns Therapy Solutions generally serves the West Nashville community.
School Visits
During the school year, sessions typically take place at the child's school or daycare (with permission). Our speech-language pathologists travel to many area private schools, within an 8-mile radius of our office, without incurring any additional travel fees.
Each school sets its own policy for outside speech-language support. Some welcome us on campus during the school day, some only after school, and some prefer that families see us at our office. Whatever your child's school allows, we are happy to partner with them.
With parent permission, we share quarterly progress updates with your child's school before parent-teacher conferences, so teachers know the goals we are working on and progress toward them.
How school visits work
- Tell us where your child goes to school, and we check what that school allows for outside speech-language support.
- You sign a permission form, and we coordinate scheduling directly with the teacher or front office.
- Sessions are set at times that work for the classroom, so your child misses as little instruction as possible.
- If on-campus visits are not permitted, we see your child at our Green Hills office or by telehealth instead.

Telehealth
We provide speech-language assessment and therapy through secure video on our SimplePractice patient portal, the same platform that holds your appointments and session notes. Our fee schedule is the same. Home practice activities and a note after each session are shared electronically. We do not accept insurance for telehealth appointments.

Log in to the patient portal and navigate to the “appointments” tab to see your upcoming appointments and “join video.”
